Can Claude edit videos? Yes, with cuttingfloor.

On its own, Claude can plan an edit but can’t cut your video. Add cuttingfloor as a connector and it can: Claude imports your footage, cuts it by what you said, adds captions and music, looks at a preview to check its work, and gives you back a finished MP4. Claude: how to connect cuttingfloor

Open Customize → Connectors, click +, then Add custom connector.
Name it cuttingfloor and paste https://api.cuttingfloor.ai/mcp as the URL. Click Continue.
Choose Sign in now (or Sign in when needed). For the OAuth client, keep Use Claude’s published identity.
Click Add, and sign in on the page that opens.
In a chat, open + → Connectors and turn cuttingfloor on.

Works on Free, Pro, Max, Ultra, Team and Enterprise. Free accounts get one custom connector.
On Team and Enterprise, an owner adds it first under Organization settings → Connectors → Add → Custom → Web. Then each person clicks Connect under Customize → Connectors.
The Claude phone apps use connectors you added on the web, but can’t add them.

Claude Cowork: how to connect cuttingfloor

Add cuttingfloor as a connector in Claude, as above. Cowork uses the same connectors as your Claude account.
Start a Cowork task and ask for the edit. It calls cuttingfloor’s tools as it works.

Cowork is on Pro, Max, Ultra, Team and Enterprise.
On Team and Enterprise, Cowork asks you to approve each step that changes something, unless an admin turns on “Allow ‘Always allow’ for connector tools”.

Can Claude edit videos?

Not by itself: Claude reads and writes, it doesn’t cut video. With cuttingfloor connected it can, because it gets the editing tools: import, cut, caption, mix, preview and export.

Does it work in Claude Code?

Yes. Run claude mcp add --transport http cuttingfloor https://api.cuttingfloor.ai/mcp, then type /mcp and sign in. Claude Code edits the same way, and can script long or repeated jobs.

Which Claude plans can use it?

Custom connectors work on Free, Pro, Max, Ultra, Team and Enterprise. Free accounts get one custom connector. On Team and Enterprise, an owner adds it for the organization first.

Can Claude add captions to a video?

Yes. It transcribes your video with the time of every word, then adds captions that can highlight each word as you say it. It can also hand you the captions as an SRT or VTT file.
